The history of the city of Krasnodar

It should be noted that in 1793 the city of Yekaterinodar was founded by the Black Sea Cossacks. Initially, this city was used as a military camp, after which it was upgraded into a fortress. The name of the city was formed on the basis of the fact of a donation from Empress Catherine, who provided the Black Sea Cossacks with a part of the Kuban land.

Already in 1860, the Kuban region was created, which became the center of development and education of many cities. The city received official status in 1867. Subsequently, a railway was formed, and the city gradually transformed into an industrial and commercial center, and all due to the fact that the location was unique, near the seas, and the transport center of the North Caucasus was created.

During the civil war, the city became the capital of Southern Russia, and in 1918, the city was besieged during the second Kuban campaign. Two years later, an underground committee and several combat groups were working in the city, and it was also here that groups of red partisans were stationed. At the same time, power in the city passed to a specially created Kuban Committee, and eventually it passed to the revolutionary committee. In the same year, the city received its current name - Krasnodar. In 1937, by affixing the All-Russian Central Executive Committee, a certain division was made, where the city of Krasnodar passed into the Krasnodar Territory and the Rostov Region.

In 1942, the city was partially occupied by the Wehrmacht, and a year later it was completely liberated by the Red Army. It should be noted that gas wagons were used during the occupation, and it is for this reason that a memorial was erected in memory of the dead people.

In 1961, there were quite significant mass riots in the city. These riots are characterized as a popular uprising. Times of stagnation have been considered since 1973. Two years earlier, a terrible terrorist attack took place in the city, an explosion in a regular bus.

It should also be noted the construction of the Krasnodar reservoir, which is very durable, which served as a certain protection of the city from constant spring floods. The construction of this reservoir took place in 1973.

From the moment of its formation to the current time, the city has been developing quite actively.
